Place of Birth: Milan, Italy

Date of Birth: 1968

Workshop location: Cremona

Mr. Musafia's note: Once upon a time I lived across the street from Alberto's workshop.  However, the funny place that Cremona is, I never knew it and only got to know him and his work once I moved back to the United States!  While I have not seen Alberto's work in a couple of years, the instruments that I have dealt with have been consistently good.  I think that Alberto will present another excellent example of new making in 2001.

Curriculum Vitae: My name is Alberto Denti, I am 30 years old.  I graduated from the International School of Violin-making in Cremona in 1986; I also studied restoration at the Milan School of Violin-making.

I am specialized in the making of modern stringed instruments, in the Cremonese classical method. I have collaborate in the workshops of violin makers PierAngelo Balzarini and Corrado Belli in Cremona.  I also spent three months in Francis Kuttner's workshop in San Francisco.  I participated in the VSA Violin Competition in 1996 (I obtained a certificate of workmanship) and again in 1998.

In 1998, I learned about repair and minor restoration with a Swiss violin maker in Lugano.

At the moment I am working in my workshop in Cremona.
