There is no higher quality cello case available on the planet! For those who know Swiss products and Swiss manufacturing, and for that matter the demanding nature of the Swiss clientele we need say no more; but for those who don't, take a look at it and compare it to the few competitors in the marketplace not only for weight, but for protection of the instrument, quality of finish, and usability. Oh, and by the way, the price is moderately suggested at retail $2,999 including two leather straps. Optional padded (travel) case covers and a full-backpack system may also be ordered.... WEIGHT -- you want it light -- the BRACK family understands. At just 7 1/2 pounds (3.5 Kg.) it is extremely light. But does "light" compromise safety? It must not!! Read on.... PROTECTION FOR THE INSTRUMENT -- There is no higher calling for a case. The BRACK family understands that this is the primary purpose of their product. The BRACK case will withstand 200 lbs of dead weight on the case without any bending or deformation. Furthermore the interiors of the cases are fully-lined with high density foam protection; many upper-end cello cases merely line their interiors with cloth (no padding at all!!). For smaller instruments foam inserts are available at no additional charge so that the perfect fit can be ensured for every instrument. Savvy musicians know that the color of their case is not merely a matter of personal preference -- warm climates and dark-colored cases do not mix. Thus, in addition to black, BRACK cases are offered in white (the traditional color) as well as metallic blue and metallic red. Finally, the elegant, flush locks WILL NOT latch unless the case is properly closed - preventing accidental opening. QUALITY OF FINISH -- Every BRACK case is finished to "Swiss" perfection. Try to close the BRACK case and notice how easily the case comes together -- the composite material allows for very little torsion so the case closes easily, every time. Compare this to the leading competitor whom (we're told) has shipped a case to a dealer with Post-it notes on the locks specifying the order in which the locks should be closed (!). There is no leather handle that is more comfortable and easy on the hands. We've seen no lock that is more practical (and, yes, if need be, they are replaceable) - - they will not open accidently by catching on something near the case. And as for the composite construction, I'm told that while a severe bump may dent the case, the heat from a hair dryer is enough to mold it back into shape. Replacement parts are always available!! USABILITY -- Yes, it's extremely light! We've also mentioned the comfort of the leather handles and the easily closing locks. The exterior is scratch resistant and easily repairable. Replacement parts are always available. So, the bottom line: it's every cellist's dream. Yes, it's expensive, but if you're the type of cellist that needs this type of case, you'll find it well worth the price. FAQ: We keep getting the question, "just what is it made of?" The quick answer is that it is of "composite construction". We could give you the dictionary definition of "composite" or claim "BRACK family secret". The best answer we can give is that it is made of a strong, tough, torsion-resistant material that does not exclude both foam, and fiberglass. Or, if you prefer, it's made of Sandwichverfahrens technology. For more information contact your local, fine cello, dealer. These cases aren't in every shop and never will be. However, most of the major shops do (or will) carry BRACK cases. If no one near you carries the case or if we can answer your questions, please feel free to contact us directly! You can also visit the BRACK web-site at www.brack-case.ch.
